About the founder

Prior to Phoenix Funds Administration, Shaun McPherson was a co-founder and the Chief Financial Officer of one of Canada’s most successful construction insurance brokerages, providing industry-leading advice and service to the construction, real estate and surety industries. 

 

Shaun has also served as a Senior Vice President and National Director of Performance Security for a global leader in the insurance brokerage space, where he was responsible for driving strategic placement and innovation in performance security for large and mid-market construction clients across Canada. At the time, Shaun was the country’s leading expert for subcontractor default insurance and has educated rating agencies, debt, equity, project sponsors, subcontractors and consultants across the Canadian construction industry.

 

He has been fortunate to represent some of Canada’s largest contractors over the years, including many of the P3 initiatives across Canada.

 

Shaun graduated with a degree in Finance & Economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1996 and subsequently went on to earn his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2004. In an effort to further his education, Shaun has recently completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Education programs focusing on Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity and Venture Capitalism.
